It happens in every neighborhood, every office, every family.
Someone turns 65, figures out their Medicare, and becomes the unofficial expert in their social circle. They found a plan they love. The premium is low. The coverage feels great. And they cannot wait to tell everyone about it.
We appreciate the enthusiasm. But we have also spent years cleaning up the decisions people made because a well-meaning friend, sibling, or coworker pointed them in a direction that was right for one person and wrong for another.
Medicare is not one size fits all. The plan that works perfectly for your neighbor depends on her doctors, her prescriptions, her health history, her budget, and the county she lives in. Change any one of those variables and the right answer can change completely.
Part D drug plans are one of the clearest examples. Two people on the same plan in the same zip code can have completely different out-of-pocket costs based solely on the specific medications they take. The plan your friend raves about might cover her prescriptions beautifully and cover yours poorly.
Provider networks are another. If your friend is on a Medicare Advantage plan and loves it, that does not mean her network includes your doctors. It might. It might not. That is a conversation worth having before you sign up, not after your first appointment.
None of this means your friend is wrong. It means their experience is data, not a prescription.
The best Medicare decision is one built around your specific situation. That is what we do. Let’s build YOUR plan.
